Milling and paving to begin in Greenport road improvement project

Milling and paving is scheduled to take place on streets in the heart of Greenport Village over the next week.

Milling will begin this morning starting on Broad Street and continuing on Third, South and Main streets, Village Clerk Sylvia Pirillo said in a statement yesterday.

“Kindly ensure that your remove your vehicle(s) from those streets during weekday, daylight hours,” Pirillo said.

The village is undertaking a large road improvement project that includes widening Main Street between Bay Avenue and Central Avenue — as well as improving the concrete aprons in front of the firehouses, curbs and sidewalks on South Street between Fourth and Fifth Avenues, repaving Broad Street, curbs and sidewalks near Sixth Street and Wiggins, and ultimately the repaving of Main Street from Steamboat Corner to Claudio’s. The village bonded $800,000 for the work.
