Anthony I. Ruskowski Sr., formerly of Calverton, died in St. Augustine, Florida on Nov. 18, 2017. He was 86 years old.
He was born on Sept. 18, 1931 in Calverton. He was a graduate of Riverhead High School. He was a farmer and produce broker who worked with his son in the produce business under the name of R & R Farms. He traveled yearly for his work from Long Island to Hastings, Florida, then to Virginia and Long Island following the harvest.
His family said he loved his hometown of Calverton/Riverhead and his parish. He was one of the longest serving collectors at St. Isidore’s noon Mass.
He was a generous father and grandfather who would never miss a family gathering, his family said. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Predeceased by his son Anthony Jr., he is survived by two daughters, Sharon Ruskowski Freeman of St. Augustine, Florida and Lisa Ruskowski McGlone of Arlington, Virginia, by his former wife Patricia Schuyler and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, Nov. 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. Interment at St. John’s Cemetery will follow.
