The Mattituck Lions Club has launched its annual toy drive to make this Christmas a little brighter for local children in need.

New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at a collection box at Wendy’s Deli.

The Lions Club was able to supply Christmas presents to more than 30 local families last year thanks to the toy drive.

“We get lists of names from local churches, from CAST and just by word of mouth,” said Tim Bialeski of the Mattituck Lions Club in an interview last year.

The Lions Club will be working in conjunction with the local Boy Scouts food drive to deliver wrapped presents and food to families across the North Fork this holiday season.

“Along with all the donated food and gifts, we use some of the money raised at the Strawberry Festival to supplement the donations,” Bialeski said last year.

Later this month, the Lions Club will team up with volunteers from other local businesses and organizations to wrap and tag the presents, which will then be delivered in time for Christmas Day.
