Police said Christian David McShea, 42, was operating a 2005 Toyota Sequoia eastbound on Route 25 in a manner described by witnesses as agressive when his vehicle rear-ended a 2010 Ford Escape. The impact sent the Escape into the west wall of Greenport Harbor Brewery, police said. McShea continued eastbound on Rt. 25 and drove into a vineyard on the north side of the roadway. He was located on the side of the road near the vineyard and determined to be intoxicated, according to the police report. He was arrested on a DWI charge and transported to police headquarters where he was found to be in possession of Xanax for which he did not have a prescription, police said.
McShea was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated and criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was held for arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court.
