Helen C. Krupski, 92

Helen C. Krupski of Cutchogue died at her home on Dec.1, 2017 with her family at her side. She was 92 years old.

She was born in Southold on Oct. 29, 1925 to Cecilia (Pendzich) Sawicki and Leon Sawicki. She graduated from Southold High School in 1944 where she was well known as a proficient athlete who had perfected the two-handed set shot while playing basketball. She worked for the Suffolk County Health Department.

She married Walter J. Krupski on Oct. 26, 1947 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church. They lived on their potato farm in Cutchogue. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to her husband and children. Her family said she provided a loving home to her immediate family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren — sometimes referring refering to them as “her little friends.” In her spare time she enjoyed taxiing her family members to their various activities, gardening, cooking and watching sporting events — especially the N.Y. Yankees and NASCAR races.

She was a communicant of Out Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church and was a member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society.

Predeceased by her husband Walter on May 4, 2017, her son Navy Lt. Cmdr. Thomas L. (Denise) in 1990 and her siblings John, Edythe, Walter, Frank and Joseph, she is survived by her children Walkter J. Jr. (Robyn) of Mattituck, Irene B. Sledjeski (Leo) of Mattituck and Cecilia A. of Cutchogue, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 4 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama RC. Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue Squad, Eastern Long Island Hospital or East End Hospice.
