A Lindenhurst man was charged with drugged driving aggravated driving while intoxicated with his 11-month-old daughter in the the backseat yesterday on Route 48 in Cutchogue, according to Southold Town Police.
Police said they received a complaint of a gray Chevrolet Cruz operated erratically eastbound on Route 48 at about 6:15 yesterday evening. Responding officers observed the vehicle failing to maintain its lane of travel, repeatedly driving on the shoulder and tailgating the vehicle in front of it, according to a police press release.
The operator of the vehicle, Ronald Samuel Iazzetta, 33, was determined by investigation to be impaired by drugs, police said. His infant daughter was in a child restraint seat in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle, police said.
Iazzetta was arrested and transported to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, where a blood test was conducted, according to the police report.
Iazzetta was later transported to Southold Town Police headquarters, where he was processed and held overnight for arraignment in Southold Town Justice Court.
