(Update September 2) Donations can also be dropped off any time this week at the Blue Duck Bakery in Southold or Greenport or at Wendy’s Deli on Route 48 in Mattituck. They will bring all donations they collect to the IGA drop off on September 9.

(Update September 1) Donations can be dropped off at the Southold IGA on Saturday, September 9 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The North Fork Chamber of Commerce has teamed up with Jernick Moving and Storage in Greenport to collect donations of much-needed supplies for victims of Hurricane Harvey and transport them directly to Texas.

Richard Jernick Jr. contacted NFCC’s Andy Binkowski offering to donate a truck and driver if Binkowski could coordinate collection of the donations. His dad, Richard Sr. has volunteered to drive the truck down to Texas once it’s filled.

“Wherever he needs it to go to, we’ll bring it,” said Jernick.

The NFCC has been in touch with a food bank in Corpus Christi, Texas and they have provided the following list of the most-needed supplies:

-Baby food and formula
-Diapers and wipes
-Batteries
-Canned ready-to-eat items with pull tops including vegetables and fruit
-Protein in pouches or pull-top cans: tuna, beef stew, chili, canned chicken
-Toiletries: deodorants, feminine care products, soap, toothbrushes/paste,
-Cleaning supplies: mops, mop buckets, brooms, bleach wipes, bleach, garbage bags
-Bug spray

SoutholdLOCAL will post details about collection locations as soon as arrangements are finalized.
