Southold resident Brady Rymer and his Little Band That Could have released their ninth studio album, a collection of original songs celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah and the New Year.

Rymer, whose Grammy-nominated family music is wildly popular with the younger set, is thrilled to have finally put together an album of songs that have been years in the making.

“I love the holidays,” says Rymer. “I loved them as a kid and as a parent. It’s a great time of year.”

Over the years a tune or two would magically pop up around the holidays, Rymer said.

“All the family traditions and the great music playing around Christmas time inspired me to write.”

“Revvin’ Up the Reindeer” is a collection of 13 original songs written in the spirit of classic Christmas music.

“I always loved Chuck Berry’s ‘Run Run Reindeer,’” said Rymer. “There’s something about those old songs with the big arrangements. I tried to capture some of that in this album.”

Rymer and his band recorded the album last summer and several of the tracks include Southold Elementary choir students as backup. Each of the 13 songs will have an accompanying video, a new one of which will be posted on their website every Friday until the New Year.

Rymer will also hold a holiday concert at Southold School in December, where he will play songs from “Revvin’ Up the Reindeer” as well as traditional songs children can sing along with.

The concert takes place on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Southold High School Auditorium. Proceeds from the concert benefit the Southold Library’s renovation. Tickets are available as a family four-pack for $75 which includes a complimentary copy of the “Revvin’ Up the Reindeer” CD. Individual tickets are $20.

Tickets will be available online beginning in November.
