It was a step back in time to a simpler celebration of the season at the Southold Historical Society’s annual candlelight tour and tree lighting this afternoon.
Children played old-fashioned games, sat on Santa’s lap and saw what a schoolhouse looked like long ago. Adults enjoyed touring the historic houses at the museum complex and watched a blacksmith hard at work.
The annual Candlelight Christmas and tree lighting attracted hundreds of people who wound up their visit watching the lighting of the Christmas tree.
