A new Greek eatery is coming to Mattituck.
Greek Bites will be opening soon, according to a sign in the window of the business, located in the Mattituck shopping plaza, where the former Big City Burgers and Atomic Wings was sited, and next to the movie theater.
Greek Bites, which has one location in Center Moriches, features homemade Greek specialties such as moussaka and pastitsio, stuffed grape leaves, eggplant dip, gyros, souvlaki, Greek salad, and spinach pie, as well as chicken Caesar pitas, vegetarian options, burgers and, for dessert, homemade baklava and an array of ice cream truffles.
Greek Bites also had a restaurant for a time in Southampton on County Road 39, but that business closed due to the “seasonal” nature of the area, according to owner Dimitra Laopodis.
Laopodis said the new eatery in Mattituck will hopefully be open by January. “We just got the keys in our hand yesterday, so we will take a little time to set it up,” she said Sunday. The restaurant will be open year round and feature some tables inside — and the restaurant’s signature, homemade family recipes.
She added that the North Fork was a natural fit. ‘It was a good business opportunity for us, a good location. We wanted to expand.”
