A Mattituck man was cuffed after driving drunk Friday night, police said.
According to Southold Town police, Erik A. Barrios-Caal, 23, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. at the intersection of Wickham Avenue and Pike Street and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor.
Barrios-Caal was observed failing to maintain his lane of travel and tailgating in the area of Route 25 and Love Lane, police said. Barrios-Caal was stopped and was found to have bloodshot, glassy eyes and slurred speech; he also smelled of an alcoholic beverage, police said. Barrios-Caal was found to be intoxicated and was placed under arrest, police said; he was transported to police headquarters to be processed and was held to await arraignment.
