Just what is that new structure sitting on the corner of Youngs Avenue and Route 25 in Southold?
That’s what at least one resident wanted to know at a breakfast meeting held at the Six Three One Diner in Southold by the North Fork Chamber of Commerce on Friday.
The kiosk, according to Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell, is one of three first planned going back as far as 2001, which were obtained with grant funding.
The information centers are meant to serve as interactive maps of community assets and points of interest, but are not functional yet. Another is located near Karen’s Deli in Cutchogue, and another in Mattituck, Russell said.
However, the size of the kiosks is problematic for the locations and Russell said all three will have to be relocated before they are set up and operational.
