Nile Rodgers pumps up fans for Martha Clara concert featuring Beck, Duran Duran, Pharrell, Keith Urban

Music legend Nile Rodgers is bringing the party back to Riverhead.

On Tuesday, the legendary star, who’s best known for co-founding the disco group Chic and creating hits such as “I Want Your Love”, “We Are Family,” and “Le Freak” announced on his Facebook page this week that plans are shaping up for a second summer music festival in Riverhead.

“I’ve got my own festival called FOLD (FreakOutLet’sDance) starring‪#‎Beck‬‪#‎DuranDuran‬, ‪#‎JanelleMonae, ‬ ‪#‎Pharrell‬ ,‪#‎ChakaKhan‬,‪#‎Qtiptheabstract,, ‬‪#‎EricB‬., ‪#‎KeithUrban‬, ‪#‎PalomaFaith‬, The Martinez Brothers and many more August 4 and 5 in Riverhead, New York at Martha Clara Vineyards,” he wrote on Tuesday.

Last month, the Riverhead town board unanimously approved a chapter 90 application from Nile Rodgers Productions for a music, art and wine festival called “The Freak Out!”

The festival will be an all-day event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. There will be an expected daily attendance of 10,500 people.

Peter Herman from Nile Rodgers Productions said the main event this year will feature 12 to 13 performers.

Nile Rodgers is a celebrity music producer who brought AVICII, Chic, Adam Lambert and others to Martha Clara in 2013. He has worked with many other popular artists in his career, including Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams, Disclosure and Sam Smith. The prior event brought out crowds of all ages to the venue.

Rodgers, who has said in interviews that he overcame a childhood marked by challenges and his parents’ heroin addiction, has spent a lifetime not only rising to international stardom but also dedicating himself to giving back, creating the We Are Family Foundation to help bring people together, with an eye toward peace.
