High winds and storm heave have hampered fishing efforts this week. This is unfortunate because blackfish season just started on October 5. As a result, there is not too much to report this week.
Captain Rob Thompson ventured out on the beaches of Southold (McCabes and Trumans) and had success, despite the wind. He had stripers on Friday, albies on Saturday and blues on Sunday. Fishing got quite for awhile, but Rob shot me a text that the albies were back today at Trumans.
According to the NOAA coastal marine forecast, winds should lay down enough to fish this long weekend, with winds not exceeding 10 to 15 knots through Sunday.
