Greenport parents bring home PBMC’s first baby of 2016

Peconic Bay Medical Center’s first baby of 2016 couldn’t wait to make his introduction to the world.

Liam Robert Ramnarine was born at 10:04 a.m. January 1, weighing in at 5 pounds, 14 ounces and 18 and a half inches long.

He was expected to be born January 15, according to his mother. But Liam began giving his mother labor pains as early as last Tuesday.

The labor pains weren’t intense enough for the soon-to-be parents to go to the hospital, but they continued through Thursday evening, even as the couple watched the ball drop.

When she wasn’t able to fall asleep that evening, Maegan Ramnarine told her husband Chris that it was time.

“I am looking forward to seeing his little changes as the days go on,” Chris said with enthusiasm.

With bags packed, the new Greenport parents were grinning as they waited to be discharged, eager to bring baby Liam home to share the joy of a New Year and new life in 2016.
