ELIH to host blood drive February 18

Eastern Long Island Hospital announces its first blood drive of 2016. The hospital will host its winter blood drive on Thursday, February 18  from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. in the conference room off the hospital’s main lobby.

All donors will receive a $5 gift certificate to the greenhouse grill or the corner gift shop courtesy of the medical staff at Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Blood donations are important to the health of our community. Long Island requires nearly 800 volunteer donations a day to serve patients in 50 local hospitals. Hospitals need to maintain an adequate blood supply for everyday emergencies, for patients undergoing surgery, and patients with cancer. Each pint of donated blood can help save the lives of up to five people.

ELIH says you can be a lifesaver by donating blood. To schedule your appointment today, call 631-477-5100. Walk-ins are also welcome.

To learn more about the blood drive, contact Eileen Solomon, Director of Community Relations by calling 631- 477-5164.
